The Club

Founded in 1934, the ASCL was established to foster good relations between Swiss and English-speaking communities. Today, our club boasts a diverse and international membership, bringing together people from around the globe.

As a predominantly social club, the ASCL is dedicated to helping members connect, enjoy each other’s company, and speak English, the club's official language. Our vibrant calendar of events offers something for everyone, with a wide array of activities including cultural outings, walks, lectures, morning coffees, lunches, aperitifs and dinners. We celebrate special occasions with enthusiasm. All events are held within a reasonable distance of Locarno to ensure accessibility for our members.

Additionally, our club maintains a library of English books, run by dedicated volunteers and open during the coffee mornings throughout the club season.

Open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, the only requirements for membership are a sociable disposition and a reasonable command of English. We blend the best of Swiss efficiency and prudence with the relaxed and informal Anglo approach, creating a unique and welcoming environment.

Our club year begins in January, with a summer break from June to September. During our active months, we host an abundance of engaging activities. Our clubroom is located at one of Locarno’s most picturesque squares, Piazza G. Pedrazzini 12, 3rd floor, 6600 Locarno.
