On Saturday 4th March at 10 am in the Club Rooms we will meet for our Coffee Morning. The library will also be open during the Coffee Morning.
On Friday 10th March the film Irrational Man will be shown at the Casino, Locarno at 6.15 pm. Single visits are CHF 10.00 per person. After the film those members wishing to meet for dinner can join the reserved tables at the nearby Ristorante Universo. Reservation is not necessary.
On Sunday 12th March we will meet for an interesting outing to visit The Vincenzo Vela Museum in Ligornetto (near Mendrisio). The guided tour in English will start at 10:00 am. Those interested in this outing are kindly asked to meet us in front of the museum at 9:45 am. The Vela museum is one of the most important artists' house-museums to have been erected in nineteenth century Europe. The Ticinese sculptor Vincenzo Vela earned the highest honours at the time of the unification of Italy. Beside the private gallery of Vincenzo Vela the museum includes a remarkable collection of nineteenth-century Lombard and Piedmont paintings, hundreds of autographic drawings and one of the earliest private collections of photographs.
The guided tour will be sponsored by the Club. The entrance ticket will cost CHF 8.00 per person, to be paid by the participants.
How to get there: Follow the high-way direction Milan. Exit Mendrisio. Follow the sign direction Stabio. After a short distance exit to the right, direction Rancate–Arnzo. Before reaching Rancate you come to a roundabout where you take the exit direction Ligornetto. Pass the village church and you'll be arriving at the museum of Vela.

On Thursday 23rd March at 6 pm in the Hotel Belvedere there will be an illustrated lecture entitled Around Switzerland in 80 Maps given by Diccon Bewes, best-selling author of books on Switzerland. Swiss data scientists, engineers, designers, historians and sociologists have assembled an amazing collection of maps describing the development of Switzerland from the first map in 1479 to modern maps including livestock inventories, subway maps, German occupation maps, a Soviet Cold War map of Basel and a Zurich nightlife map among others. Maps both inform and entertain, and this talk should give us a new perspective on the country we live in.
